Hard Times/Who Cares
Written by Nancy Balyeat 1980
Always trying, always working hard for things that never come.
Running around doing things that never seem to get done.
Saying things I didn't really mean to say.
How does my life that I try so hard to work at turn out this way.
Hard times get a hold on me and they don't let me go.
I keep on looking for a better way than the way I've known.
I did nearly everything I knew how to do.
Nothing seemed able to deliver me from the hard times I go through.
That's when I cast all of my cares on the Lord.
I lay all of my burdens at His feet.
Trusting that He is able to work all things out for my good.
I cast all of my cares on the Lord.
That's when I cast all of my cares on You, Lord.
I lay all of my burdens at your feet.
Trusting that He who began a good work in me will complete it.
I will cast all of my cares on the Lord
Hard Times I wrote in 1980 after Joel was born. We were living up at the House of the Lord retreat house near Tum Tum and were very active in the prayer group there. I hadn't done much song writing since I got married. I wrote this one for my dad. I saw Him going through so many hard times in life and wanted to share the hope I had in Christ with him. Little did I realize how much I would need this song for myself! Trials, so many trials! But Jesus Christ has carried them with me. I cast them on Him many a time!
